Write your first Flutter application
Salih Guler
If you are part of the Flutter development world, you likely have heard about Salih! Salih is @GoogleDevExpert for Flutter, founder of FlutterGermany and co-organizer of @FlutterBerlin, so one can say he’s from head to toe into Flutter. Don’t miss this chance to get your first (but why not second, third, tenth) Flutter app running under expert’s guidance. Get hands-on experience by creating a simple application. You can go through all the amazing features that Flutter offers us, ask questions on the way and learn Flutter by implementing it.
See Muhammed Salih Guler’s Flutter Developer interview at Google I/O 2019.
To get your engines started, you need to bring your own laptop and install the SDK to your preferred IDE. Check the links below for these steps.

Android with a side of Flutter, please
Filip Hráček
We are pleased to introduce another Flutter ninja at the droidcon. If you have had the first hands-on experience with Flutter but are not ready to burn all the bridges and jump all into the Flutter world, look no more. Filip is a Developer Advocate in the Flutter team and is willing to take you for a smooth Flutter ride.
“You’ll learn how to add a single Flutter activity to your app and keep the rest. This is how companies like Alibaba are gradually rewriting their Android and iOS apps to Flutter, page by page.”
This is definitely one of the presentations to look out for. Not only is Filip bringing the knowledge straight from the source, he’s the man who understands a good joke. He runs the Boring Flutter Development Show and builds various projects for fun, like the Flutter demo app called Entire history of humanity seen at Flutter Live and the @year_progress Twitter bot, just to mention a few.
Wed 10:10 AM - 10:50 am
Building a cross-platform DroidCon app using Flutter
Rohan Taneja
Now it is the right time to ask if you have downloaded the DroidCon Berlin App? Not only is it very useful, but it’s also beautiful and built with Flutter in 30 days. I know, right! You might have heard many stories about Flutter and record build times on multiple platforms, and DroidCon Berlin App is just another proof of that. Rohan will share his experience building the DroidCon Berlin App and the lessons learned.
We can’t promise anything, but Rohan is well known for his interactive presentations. Check out his presentation inspired from Black Mirror Bandersnatch here.

What I learnt by building the exact same app in Kotlin (Native Android), Nativescript and Flutter
Arnav Gupta

Arnav built a blogging app using Kotlin, Nativescript and Flutter, and shares the differences in development and user experience of the apps built using all these platforms.
Wed 2:20 PM - 3:00 pm
Fluttering at 60 FPS (or bust)
Krzysztof Sroka
Flutter and animations go hand in hand. Flutter lets you write incredibly smooth animations with its promise of rendering at the speed of 60 frames per second. But how is it possible without slowing down your app? Krzysztof Sroka is a cross-platform developer and Flutter aficionado from Wrocław. He is also a member of the local Google Developers Group where he leads the Flutter initiative. Check out what he thinks about Flutter here and how to bridge some gaps between its libraries and whatever’s being provided by your favorite native OS when building Flutter apps here.
We agree that there could be much more Flutter talks at the conference. But the ones droidcon Berlin has are the best. There are many other useful and interesting presentations to attend. We will add our editor top picks from the mobile app development sphere in general to build healthy apps faster.
